Nifty Thrifty: Carafe Jar or Vintage Milk Jug?

I haven't posted a "Nifty Thrifty" post in a long time, so I figured I better do one. Apparently I have a thing for jars. Remember my Apothecary Jars? I've actually added more to my collection and I should do another post about them sometime. Anyway, sometimes it pays out to check the way bottom shelf. I mean get down on your "hands and knees" kind of looking. Otherwise you might miss out on something like these:

That's right! They are 1/2 qt carafes...or vintage milk jugs? I don't know, but I really liked them. Betcha can't guess how much I paid for all eight of these beauts? 5 smackaroos! That's right! FIVE DOLLARS for all eight! Can you believe it?

I'm so bummed though because I bought some gingham ribbon to make these curtains, but I can't find the ribbon anywhere! Grr...! I wanted to tie a bow around this one before I took a pic. I'm guessing I should look in one of the many hiding places London has in this place.

Anyway Friends, have a great Monday!

Room By Room: Kitchen - Vintage-Style Vinyl Coasters

Before I tell you about these:

Let me tell you about this:

Last week was so busy! My second day of being thirty-two years old, I FINALLY got to go to Sea World for the first time EVER and we had a blast!!! (I have a feeling a few days after my 35th birthday I'll get to go to one of the Disney's for the first time! HAHA!) The kids had so much fun and although London didn't really get her nap, she was a trooper and was fuss-free up until the very end. As for a mini-vacation, we are going to plan one every year before school starts. Sort of an End-Of-Summer Bash!

Also last week, we had to get ready for school. Today is Taevyn's first day and we were out finishing up school clothes shopping. With all the hustle and bustle of getting things ready, I managed to get a project done.

Let me tell you about the vinyl I bought at Goodwill for two bucks. It's a vintage-style cherry vinyl I bought brand new! Isn't it lovely? I {heart} the Goodwill! I love the cherries and I knew it would go perfect in my kitchen! Yep! This is the style I want. Good ol' fashioned cherries! It's bright and cherry...I mean...cheery!

Of course I'm not going to put this on my walls. That would just be crazy! So, I'm using bits and pieces for the accessories. It's all about accessorizing! So I made some coasters.

I LOVE my new coasters! I use them all the time! Just a few tiles, the vinyl, some felt, ribbon, and a little bit of rhinestones for a little bling, huh? Perfection I tell ya!

This is my "red" one. Why red? Because it has red ribbon on the front and red felt on the back.

This is the back of the "blue" one. You can't really see, but it has blue ribbon on the edges and then of course the blue felt backing. I'm thrilled that I had ribbon the perfect width of the edge in both colors!

Yep! I almost love my DQ's raspberry iced tea as much as my coasters! I'm in heaven now!

Well, off to get some things done! Hope you have a great day everybody!

Kids Korner: Vacation Totes

Today should be considered a National Holiday! That's right, today is my birthday! Okay, maybe not a national holiday, but it's the second day out of the year that I am treated as a Queen (the first day being Mother's Day) from my beloved little family whom I adore so much!

For my birthday, My Love is taking us on a mini-vacation to Sea World in San Antonio! We'll be leaving this afternoon and won't be back until Tuesday! We have a two night three day stay planned and I'm so excited! In fact I'm so excited that I made the kids these tote bags to carry their games, toys, coloring books, etc.

I used my Cricut to cut the boy/girl images out freezer paper to use for a stencil. I used the A Child's Year cartridge and thought the beach ones sent the perfect message for "vacation". I used fabric paint on the stencils. I used blue dimensional fabric paint for the squiggly lines and dots on Taevyn's bag. I used silver dimesional fabric paint for the starbursts and dots on London's bag. I wish I would've only made one starburst and the rest polka dots, but you live and learn.

For their names, I again used my Cricut to cut the fabric and WonderUnder using the same cartridge. Note to self: If you're gonna cut letters from fabric, use big letters. Otherwise the fabric gets all bunched up. Also, be sure to clean your mat because it doesn't stick to fabric to well if it's covered in paper lint. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES PEOPLE! LOL! Just sayin'! I still have to attach the fabric then I'll sew random stitches using complimentary embroidery floss.

I hope you like the bags because I really do! Seriously, if your budget allows you to, you should really take a mini-vacation! They are AWESOME!!!

Now I must leave you with this picture I took of my ice tray. I have no idea how a long line of water froze through in the air, but it was totally wicked! LOL! My son thought it was the "coolest thing ever!" HAHAHA! You can tell who's son he is! Have a great day my friends!

Room By Room: Craft Room In Progress

We FINALLY got our AC fixed last Saturday. Oh Mercy! I never want to do THAT again! While it was hot, hot, HOT I didn't do much about anything but thought I was going to die of heat stroke. Okay, it wasn't that bad, since we stayed in the shade, had all fans going and drank LOTS of water!

Sunday, I started moving my craft stuff to my bedroom. Here is the before picture:

After going through all of my stuff, I decided to store any non-essentials in the garage and keep out the stuff I will use. I'm still putting my room together, but I did get most of it up. Here's what it looks like now:

I still have much more to do, like put up some more shelves, find the tote with my apothecary jars, unpack some more stuff among other things I still have to do.

I'm eventually going to build an island in that empty space for a cutting station. I can't wait to do that! I bought a cutting mat (see the blue thing next to my bookcase) and rotary cutter, so I'll need something to cut things on besides my dining room table downstairs. I'll also need it to cut things with my Cricut too!

I LOVE this room. I can't wait to use it! Oh, and remember the formal dining room I was originally going to use for my craft room? We decided to turn it into a Snack Bar. How cool will that be? I'm now looking for two small bistro-style tables to put by the windows. By the red accent wall will be a bar with stools where I'll keep a blender and other "bar" tools and supplies. I'm also looking for an armoire or two to make a Snack Center and a Drink Station. I have a box light that says "Pub Open" on one side and "Pub Closed" on the other side. I bought it on clearance at Target a few years ago after St. Patrick's Day! I also have tons of kid-friendly recipes to make neat drinks including the infamous Shirley Temple! I'll also have snacks for them to eat. I'm thrilled and can't wait to get that started!

Well, I'll stop boring you with my plans until I get it started and have pics to show you. Have a wonderful day Friends!

On The Hottest Day Of The Year...

...of course, our AC went out! I haven't been making much because 1.) I decided to move my craft room into our bedroom. Seriously, it's so big, we could put a little kitchenette in there and we'd have a studio apartment. 2.) In the middle of moving my stuff, the AC went out and it's just to hot to make stuff. In fact, I'm not even cooking. I'm letting the restaurants do that for me! LOL!

I hope your weekend goes good and hopefully the AC people can get it fixed tomorrow! Have a great weekend!

P.S. I'm to hot to take a pick of the broken AC Compressor, so I don't have a pic for ya! Sorry!

Tinkerbell Dress

I found this cute bandanna with Tinkerbell and I loved how it resembled tatoo art. My friend Tiara told me that she used to make those "Pillowcase Dresses" out of bandannas. So of course I figure, "how hard can that be?" Then of course I went online and found this shirt and figured, "seriously, it can't be THAT hard." Well dear readers, when you still need lots of practice with the sewing machine, it IS that hard! But I was determined and I persevered! And now I'm reaping my reward! Take a look:

Yes, it's not perfect. Yes, it has flaws. No, I'm not leaving the straps that long. But I love it! And I guess that's all that matters!

In other news, my night lights were featured again! YAY! This time at:
